Breast Cancer

Benny Abraham Kaipparettu major research interest of Dr. Kaipparettu is in breast cancer stem cells (His publications before 2006 was with the name Abraham BK due to official name change). After bachelor and master degree in pharmacy, Dr. Kaipparettu continued his career in pharmacogenomics and obtained PhD in Pharmacology for his research in CYP2D6 polymorphism. During his first postdoctoral fellowship in Germany, Dr. Kaipparettu focused on pharmacogenomics in breast cancer. In 2003 when initial reports about putative breast cancer stem cells (BCSCs) published, he investigated its clinical significance in breast tumors and published one of the first studies on the clinical significance of BCSCs. His observations suggested the relevance of BCSCs in distant metastasis. The findings in his publication were further verified by several other research groups and extensively cited in other cancer stem cell publications. Later he moved to Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA and continued his work on the regulation of cancer stem cell markers by hormone receptors and its epigenetic silencing. Mean time, he also focused on the higher order regulation of clustered genes by scaffold proteins and the development of economic technologies for three dimensional (3D) cell culture. In 2009 Dr Kaipparettu was promoted as a Junior Faculty in Baylor College of Medicine and in 2010 he has became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Baylor College of Medicine.

Prof.Nitin Telang obtained his PhD degree in Experimental Embryology in 1974 from the University of Poona, India. He immigrated to the USA in 1976, and obtained his post-doctoral training at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE, American Health Foundation, Valhalla, NY and Sloan-Kettering Institute New York, NY (1976-1985). During his post-doctoral training, he conducted research on the initiation and progression of breast and colon carcinogenesis in organ cultures of target tissue. As a faculty member, Dr Telang served as Attending Biochemist, Department of Surgery, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY (1985-1991), and as Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, Weill-Cornell Medical College, New York, NY (1991-2004). His last academic appointment was as Senior Scientist, and Director, Carcinogenesis and Prevention Laboratory, Strang Cancer Prevention Center, New York, NY (2004-2007)

Portnoy Sergey Mikhailovich, 1968-1974 was studied at the Vladivostok Medical Institute and the 1st Leningrad Order of Lenin Medical Institute named after Academician I.P. Pavlov. 1974-1975 internship in surgery at the 1st Moscow Order of Lenin Medical Institute named after Academician I.M.Sechenov. 1975 - 2017 residency, postgraduate studies and work at the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Russian Cancer Research Center named after NN Blokhin "of the Ministry of Health of Russia (formerly the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Oncology of the RAMS of the USSR) as a junior researcher, researcher, senior researcher, leading researcher, head of the department (Surgical Department No. 8 of Operative Mammology). From 2017 to the present, I have been working in several private clinics in Moscow. Since 2021 I have been a consultant at BIMK-Cardio JSC.
